More than 3,000 scientists are opposing USDA nominee Sam Clovis as USDA undersecretary for research, education and economics. That’s as reports link him to the Russian campaign scandal. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says it’s unclear whether the latest revelations about Clovis would derail his nomination. He says the hearing process needs to go forward.
Grassley says Clovis is being open with the Senate Intelligence Committee and more information is needed before Senators make their decision on his nomination, that’s why they have hearings.
Clovis is scheduled to go before the Senate Ag Committee for his nomination hearing on November 9.
