A South Dakota legislative committee has recommended more study on special education funding.
The number of students needing those services has been rising faster than overall enrollment, and a fund set aside by the state to help has been tapped out.
Yankton Superintendent Wayne Kindle says they are also seeing a rise in special education needs and costs….
Kindle says the district has not yet requested any money from the special ed fund…
The interim committee on special education will take their recommendation to the 2019 legislative session.
