The South Dakota legislature agreed on a two and a half percent increase in state aid to schools this fall.

Schools have to stay within the accountability rules for teacher pay. Alvey says the state aid increase puts them in the target range…

Part of the accountability is in the student to teacher ratio. Alvey says they are on the right side of that also…

That ratio ranges from twelve students to one teacher in smaller schools, to fifteen to one in larger districts.
