Most school districts in South Dakota are keeping up with teacher pay requirements.
The funding formula was changed in 2016 to increase teacher pay. Districts have to use at least eighty five percent of the funding increase from that change to raise teachers’ pay.
Tom Culver, Superintendent at the Avon School District says they have been able to meet the accountability standards but it is a moving target…

Culver says they could see a number of changes in the near future….

Culver says there will be more adjustments needed to keep teacher pay on track….

There were nine school districts in the state that failed the accountability rules last fall.
