A record number of Minnesota school districts — 66 at last count — are asking voters to increase property taxes this year so they can construct new buildings. Greg Abbott with the Minnesota School Boards Association attributes it to the legislature authorizing universal all-day kindergarten:

Twenty-seven of the school districts had bond referendums already this year. The remaining ones will be in November.
