While the current school year is winding down, districts are on the hunt for teachers to fill upcoming vacancies this fall.
Wade Pogany, Executive Director of the Associated School Boards of South Dakota, says they are tracking lots of openings…..

Pogany says the openings change day to day but have been well over one hundred most of the spring.
He says many districts are facing retirements of veteran teachers….

Pogany says all types of teachers are needed….

Many districts are using the new state aid increase to give teachers a six percent pay raise.
