School Board Sees Budget

Members of the Yankton School Board got their first look at the outline of the budget for next year at their meeting last night.

With revenues of just under sixteen million dollars, Superintendent Dr. Wayne Kindle said they were looking at a structural deficit of about one million dollars. Kindle said they have been making progress on reducing that deficit…

 

Business Manager Jason Bietz says most of the deficit reduction has come because of changes in the teaching staff…

 

There was some discussion of increasing elementary library staff back to four people. There are currently two library aides that rotate to the four elementary schools. Kindle says those people are needed…

 

The board will hold an official budget hearing at their July meeting.
