The Yankton School Board put off a decision on adding soccer as a sanctioned sport to their May meeting.

Members of the Yankton Youth Soccer Association were at the meeting last night (Monday) making the case for the school district sponsoring the sport.

Jeff Wolfgram says the association is ready to fund the program for the next few years…

He says that could be a onetime payment, or spread out over several years.

Board member Jay Williams says the cost of another program is a major factor…

Soccer association member Wes Chambers said due to changes at the state level, the program would end without the district taking it on…

The board asked for more information ahead of their May meeting.
