Sanford Health oncologists soon will be able to access real-time patient data to help guide cancer treatments through the use of a national non-profit called Cancer-LinQ.
CancerLinQ uses big data to gather and analyze information from cancer patients and other data sources. Executive Director of Cancer Services Sharon Hunt, says it’s a learning database…

Hunt says even though patients can opt out of the program for privacy issues, the identity of the patient is not tied to the data…..

Sanford is also able to use the database to help identify who may be eligible for clinical trials. Hunt says this can provide enhanced cancer care for patients…

Sanford Health is one of the first 50 health care organizations to join the program. As more organizations join the program, more data will be available.
