South Dakota Senators will get the chance to debate, and possibly vote on the sales tax increase today. HB1182 will be heard this afternoon. It would raise about one hundred million dollars, with the bulk of that going to raise teacher pay.
Senator Arthur Rusch, a republican from Vermillion, says he will support the bill. He says there could be a number of amendments offered……

Rusch says some of the amendments may do more harm than good….

Rusch says he doesn’t think sales tax opponents can come up with any other viable plan…..

Legislators return to Pierre from a three day weekend, for a four day work week.
