The House Transportation and Infrastructure subcommittee is holding a hearing this afternoon how to meet the transportation needs of Rural America. Soy Transportation Coalition Executive Director Mike Steenhoek has been asked to testify. He says while the primary topic will center around the financing needs of highways and roads, they’ll also be talking about rail service and locks and dams.
Steenhoek says another important area of discussion will involve semi weight limits.
Steenhoek says each and every type of transportation effects agriculture and needs to be reviewed by lawmakers to see what and how much needs to be funded.
Subcommittee Chairman, Missouri Congressman Sam Graves goal is to call attention to the transportation challenges confronting rural America.
