Rural housing needs in Nebraska have the attention of the Ricketts Administration.

State Economic Development Director Courtney Dentlinger says housing has become a real problem as Nebraska attempts to attract businesses to the state. . .

Governor Pete Ricketts has high hopes a bill that passed the legislature will help address the need for more workforce housing in rural Nebraska.

The bill authorizes grants to increase the housing stock in the rural portions of the state.

Another measure, which would have expanded Tax Increment Financing to help subsidize workforce housing construction, failed to overcome a filibuster.

It is likely to return next year.
