Rural electric cooperatives are now going through the numbers, preparing for possible electric rate increases next year.
Brad Schardin is the Manager of Southeastern Electric, based in Marion. He says they are seeing rate pressure from their supplier….

Schardin says they have been able to hold down rate increases for the past few years…..

Schardin says outside factors are pushing up costs for all energy producers…..

Southeastern serves customers in an area from near Parkston, to southern Sioux Falls, to near Irene.
