Rural Electric Co-ops Get Storm Ready

As a winter storm makes its way across the region, rural electric cooperatives are bracing for possible power issues and outages.
Brad Schardin, Manager of Southeastern Electric based in Marion says following a couple of damaging ice storms over the past few years, they have been putting a lot of their service lines underground…..

Schardin says they have installed new switches in many of their substations to help recover more quickly from outages…..

Schardin says their crews have been taking advantage of the mild late fall weather to finish their projects…..

Southeastern serves an area from around Sioux Falls to near Parkston.
