The Natural Resources Conservation Service is taking public comments from now until January 19 on the Conservation Stewardship Program. The Center for Rural Affairs wants a couple of key changes in the C-S-P. SenIor Associate for Ag and Conservation Policy, Traci Bruckner says those who first implemented conservation programs should be the first to receive the benefits rather than how it’s structured now.
Bruckner says the other change they want in the C-S-P is to close current loopholes.
She says another problem is that conservation funding was cut in the just passed omnibus budget legislation.
Bruckner says anyone wishing to comment on the C-S-P rule can go to the NRCS website or to their Center for Rural Affairs Website for more information.
