Nebraska State legislators have passed LB 400, a measure to expand rural access to telehealth services. It’s one of the pieces in the puzzle of addressing the need for better rural health care. Center for Rural Affairs supported the bill. Senior Policy Associate Nate Beacom says the measure expands access to health services for many Nebraskans.

He says telehealth is just one of the answers to improving rural health care and more needs to be done.

Beacom says they’re monitoring the advancement of LB 108 which has passed first reading. He says that improves state SNAP rules to make it easier and more effective for those who need those federal benefits.

He says LB 108 is designed to help working families as they progress toward self sufficiency and don’t stay tied to federal benefits as they recover economically.
