The Yankton City Commission took over an hour last night, debating issues around selling the RTEC building to the Yankton School District. The city were the owners to allow pass through funding for the educational programs at RTEC.
During the debate, some commissioners were concerned about the city becoming a tenant in the building instead of the owners, and the terms of the lease.
City Manager Amy Nelson says the commission had not seen all the details of the lease until shortly before the meeting…..

Nelson says they will meet again with the school district to clarify some of the terms in the lease….

Nelson says they think the school district can help focus the mission of RTEC…..

The building was transferred for one dollar. The Yankton School Board had approved the sale and lease earlier in the evening.
