At their September meeting, the board of the James River Water Development District approved their 2016 operating budget. They plan to spend just over nine hundred sixty thousand dollars next year. The property tax levy for the district has held steady since 2012.

District Manager Dave Bartel (like startle) says they have been conservative over the years…

Bartel says they don’t want to lean too heavily on taxpayers in the district…

Bartel says despite the tight budget, they have been able to move ahead on a number of river improvement projects…

The district is made up of counties along the James River from North Dakota to Nebraska.
