A measure that would allow agriculture equipment owners the ability to make their own repairs is contained in a bill heard in a Nebraska legislative committee. Nebraska State Senator Tom Brandt of Plymouth, a fourth generation farmer is carrying the bill. He says the legislation has been narrowed down and focuses on just agriculture equipment.
He says many producers get squeezed during planting and harvesting season when they have break downs and need to get their equipment back up and operating on a timely basis.
Brandt says most farmers and ranchers have the ability to make needed repairs and are being hampered by manufacturers.
Both the Nebraska Farm Bureau and Farmers Union support the bill.
