It took Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts only a few hours to veto the gas tax hike passed by the Unicameral. District 40 Senator Tyson Larson of O’Neill says he opposes the six cent increase.
Larson says the state needs a better method of financing roads.
Much of the increased gas tax would go to counties and other local governments for their road needs. Larson says counties need to look at their current spending.
The Unicameral is off today and will returns tomorrow for day 78 of the 90 day session.
