Several biofuel groups including the American Coalition for Ethanol and Renewable Fuels Association have sent a letter to Congress urging members to reject any proposal to repeal or reform the Renewable Fuel Standard. Representative Barry Loudermilk of Georgia has introduced an amendment to defund the RFS. American Coalition for Ethanol Executive Vice President Brian Jennings says even oil companies are concerned about Loudermilk’s provision. He says the amendment doesn’t make a lot of sense and is a strange attack on the RFS.

Jennings says even if Loudermilk’s amendment passes the House, it won’t get very far in the Senate or past the President.

Jennings says its important that House members hear their message that the RFS is working, that greenhouse emissions are being reduced, and dependence on foreign sources of oil have gone done significantly.
