RFA Wants New Administration To Handle 2021 RVOs

RFA Wants New Administration To Handle 2021 RVOs

The Renewable Fuels Association wants the present Environmental Protection Agency not to put out the 2021 Renewable Volume Obligations under the RFS until President Elect Joe Biden takes office and a new administrator is in charge at the EPA. RFA President and CEO Geoff Cooper says the agency missed their statutory deadline of November 30 for getting those RVOs out, so he thinks its better for the new administration to take charge on that issue.

He expects the new EPA leader to follow through with what the President Elect promised during his campaign for office to stop the issuance of the slew of small refiner waivers that have damaged the renewable fuels industry.

Cooper says the present EPA administrator Andrew Wheeler needs to provide clarity on both the 2021 RVO levels as well as with the small refinery waivers.

Cooper says even if the present EPA were to now propose a 2021 RVO it would take 5 or 6 months before it could be finalized so waiting for the new administration to take action on it just makes sense.
