RFA Says RFS Repeal Not Likely

The American Petroleum Institute is optimistic it can convince a majority in the House to reform or repeal the Renewable Fuel Standard.  Renewable Fuel Association’s Vice President of Research and Analysis Geoff Cooper says API attempted to get the RFS repealed last session in the House and failed. He says they’ll have to start there again and doesn’t think they’ll do any better than last time when the House Energy and Commerce Committee tabled it.

Cooper says even in the remote instance that API would be able to get their repeal or reform measure through the House, their chances of getting it through the Senate or signed by the President would also likely fail.

API’s Bob Greco says they count 205 House members who have either signed letters or co sponsored legislation to reduce the amount of renewable fuels that refiners must blend or repeal the measure altogether. He says that’s close to the majority of 218 they need to get their measure through.
