The Renewable Fuel Association along with several other bio fuel groups wrote to the President this week urging him to strengthen the RFS in order to battle climate change. RFA’s Senior Vice President of Research and Analysis Geoff Cooper says there’s already an effective strategic plan in place to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and that should be followed.
Cooper says the letter also asks the President to put into effect the original volume requirements called for under the R-F-S..
Cooper says their letter also pointed out a 2012 study funded by the U.S. Department of Energy that showed the lifecycle CO2 emissions from traditional corn ethanol are 34 percent lower than gasoline.
