RFA Says Oil State Senators Request To Freeze RFS For 2021 Is Ridiculous

Senators from 15 oil producing states have written to the EPA Administrator asking him to freeze the Renewable Fuel Standard for 2021. Renewable Fuels Association President and CEO Geoff Cooper says courts have already determined that what they’re asking for is not legal.

He says there are definite political reasons for the Senators request as many are up for election this fall.

The Senators claim in their letter that freezing the RFS would ensure refiners and retailers can continue to provide American consumers with affordable fuels that are safe for vehicles. Cooper says that claim is absurd., and just the opposite would happen.

The Senators wrote that EPA must not mandate blending too much biofuel into a dwindling fuel supply.
