RFA Says Informa Analysis Shows No Relationship Between RINs and Retail Gas Prices

Analysis done by Informa shows there is no relationship between Renewable Identification Numbers or RIN credits and retail gas prices. Renewable Fuel Association Senior Vice President Geoff Cooper says they commissioned the study in response to Renewable Fuel Standard opponents claims that RIN credits are causing higher gas prices and that those costs will be passed on to consumers.

He says the study shows there is no link between RINs and retail gas prices as gas and oil interests are claiming.

Cooper says many of the latest moves by the EPA, which would negatively impact the RFS, are being driven by the idea that RINs credits are causing higher retail gas prices.

Cooper is hoping EPA will take this study into account as they move forward with policies impacting the Renewable Fuel Standard.
