Renewable Fuel Association President Bob Dinneen testified recently at a Surface Transportation Board Hearing looking at rail safety.   He says the ethanol industry has a great track record for safety with their shipping of product.

Dinneen says he also told the S-T-B that they’re focusing too much safety on tank cars and not on the root causes of derailments which include track maintenance and human error..

Dinneen says his group remains committed to addressing rail safety and part of that is evidenced by the creation of the ethanol emergency response coalition put together several years ago. He says they also want to work with the S-T-B and others to achieve improvements in prevention, mitigation and response.
