Last week, the USDA announced its Agriculture Innovation Agenda. It includes policies that support renewable fuels, including ethanol, biodiesel, and biomass. Renewable Fuel Association President and CEO Geoff Cooper says the Ag Innovation Agenda calls for higher blends of ethanol in the nation’s automobiles by 2030 and 2050 respectively.
He says the goals set by the USDA for nationwide E15 use by 2030 and E30 by 2050 can’t be met unless EPA follows the Renewable Fuel Standard and eliminates all the small refiner exemptions.
Cooper says the Ag Innovation Agenda is a broad ranging and comprehensive plan that puts agriculture out in front in combatting climate change and reducing greenhouse gas and carbon emissions. He says ethanol has already greatly reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
Cooper says the Ag Innovation Agenda will help stimulate long term economic growth in Rural America and will also enhance sustainability and improve environmental quality.
