Close to 500 people, half of them international buyers of coarse grains attended this week’s Export Exchange in Seattle, Washington. The event is co sponsored by the Renewable Fuels Association and the U.S. Grains Council. RFA Senior Vice President Geoff Cooper says they heard a lot of interest from potential customers wanting U.S. dried distillers grains.
Cooper says last year over half of the DDG’s from the U.S.went to China but now that country is closing off that market with certification requirements because of MIR biotech traits. He says with the loss of that market until that issue is resolved that the U.S. is looking to other customers who want the product.
Cooper says with the lower prices being seen lately for dried distillers grains there is a lot of demand out there for them.
