RFA Officials Express Concern At President’s Meeting To Discuss Biofuels

President Trump has scheduled a meeting with Cabinet officials and key Senators to talk over potential changes to the nation’s biofuels policy, the Renewable Fuel Standard. The RFS is coming under increasing attack following the recent bankruptcy of a Pennsylvania Refinery. Renewable Fuels Association Senior Vice President Geoff Cooper says they are concerned about a meeting being held that could possibly lead to RFS reforms.

He says any change to the RFS to allow refineries not to meet their obligations sets a terrible precedent.

Cooper says it’s positive that Iowa Senators Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst will be at the meeting. He also expects the President to stand by the RFS.

Most of the attacks on the RFS have come from the oil and gas industry and Texas Senator Ted Cruz who’s in a tough fight for re-election.
