EPA has extended the compliance deadline for the 2013 Renewable Fuel Standard to September 30 of this year. Renewable Fuel Association’s Geoff Cooper says that decision may further delay an announcement by EPA on the 2014 volume obligations under the RFS.
Cooper says because of those delays by EPA he’s not expecting a decision quickly on the 2014 R-F-S..
He says they were hoping for an early summer announcement on the volume requirements.
Cooper says the renewable fuel industry needs the volume requirement decision as soon as possible to give them certainty in the marketplace. He says the longer it’s delayed the more confusing it gets for both refiners and biofuel producers.
