RFA Leader Says Anti RFS Legislation Headed For A Dead End

A group of Senators have introduced legislation that would in effect gut the Renewable Fuel Standard. Renewable Fuels Association President and CEO Geoff Cooper says the Senators are confused about the RFS as there is no such thing as a corn ethanol mandate.

He says the bill sponsors not only do not understand the RFS but the benefits it has brought and their idea of sustainable fuels doesn’t match up to reality.

Cooper says the chances for this measure getting any serious backing isn’t very good.

Cooper says the bill’s backers need to realize that renewable fuels reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40 to 50 percent compared to gasoline while also slashing harmful tailpipe pollutants.
