Governor Dave Heineman says the Nebraska State Patrol has handed the results of its investigation into the prison sentence miscalculations by Corrections officials over to prosecutors.
Heineman says that even as prosecutors consider whether any criminal charges will be filed, his administration is working to correct the problems that led to the premature release of hundreds of prison inmates. . .
Failure to take into account state Supreme Court rulings led to the premature release of more than 300 prison inmates.
Heineman says the last inmate who still owed the state time has been returned to prison. . .
The Attorney General’s office and the Lancaster County prosecutor will decide whether any criminal charges will be filed.
