Can livestock and crops share the same land – that’s the questions researchers are trying to answer.

University of Nebraska animal science professor Jim MacDonald says land efficiency is important to making it work.

His team will study cattle and the impact they have on the land.

MacDonald says part of the impacts is monitoring carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide emissions from this type of production.

MacDonald says carbon efficiency will be studied by how much food is produced compared to gas emissions.
