Rembrandt Foods headquartered in Spirit Lake Iowa will be building a cage-free egg production facility near Lake Preston South Dakota this summer. Rembrandt Foods Vice President of Marketing Jonathan Spurway says they’ll break ground in June and once they’ve reached full capacity will have up to 3 million laying hens at the site.
He says there were multiple reasons the Lake Preston area was chosen for their facility including biosecurity benefits.
Spurway says they’re looking forward to opening their first South Dakota plant.
Rembrandt Foods already has egg production facilities in Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri and Alabama and is the largest in line processor of egg products in the world.
