More than 170 religious leaders have signed a letter urging the Unicameral to expand Medicaid to cover 54-Thousand Nebraskans now without health insurance.
Retired Lutheran minister, the Reverend Keith Nelson, says the letter states everyone has a moral duty to care for one another.
Nelson says the clergy hope to open the eyes of lawmakers to those in need.
Attempts to expand Medicaid since Congress passed the federal health insurance law have failed in Nebraska. The Unicameral should take up the latest version in the next few weeks.
