Regulation Questions About Gregory Hydro Project

Regulation of a major power production facility along the Missouri River is in question. The Gregory Hydro project would build a large reservoir on the west bank of the river, then release water down hill through generators when extra electricity is needed. The plan could cost up to a billion dollars and take ten years to plan and build.

South Dakota Public Utilities Commission Chairman Chris Nelson says they don’t yet know what their authority may be….

Nelson says their lawyers are looking over the rules right now….

Nelson says those living in the area where the project would be built are looking for some local regulation…..

Missouri River Energy Services is the lead agency in the project, with Mid American Energy as a partner.
