South Dakota volleyball player Audrey Reeg has been named the October Summit League Female Athlete of the Month, which was announced by the league office Tuesday.
This is the first such honor for Reeg, who has been named the Summit League Athlete of the Week three times.
“This is just another well-deserved honor,” said South Dakota head volleyball coach Leanne Williamson. “I think one of the best things about Audrey, is that she would be the first to tell you that she couldn’t have done it without her team. She continues to push herself to get better each day.”
Reeg collects volleyball’s first-ever Athlete of the Month award since the Coyotes joined the Summit in 2011 as she helped South Dakota to a 7-2 record during the month. She led USD in kills per set and total blocks and was second on the team in digs per set. She averaged 4.13 kills and 3.67 digs as the Coyotes swept six matches. She recorded six double-doubles during the month, including an 18-kill, 16-dig performance that led South Dakota to a 3-2 victory over Fort Wayne after starting the match down 2-0.
