Many school districts around the state are having a tough time finding enough qualified teachers to fill their vacancies. It’s an issue the legislature will take up again in January.
University of South Dakota President Jim Abbott says they have changed the way they educate educators.

Abbott says no matter how many teachers they turn out, there is no guarantee that they will stay in the state.

Abbott says they will continue to recruit high school students to their college of education.
