South Dakota’s state parks saw a record number of campers last year.  Jeff Van Meeteren is the southeast regional park supervisor, and he says the numbers were up almost four percent from 2013…

Van Meeteren says they didn’t add any additional campsites to their inventory, but the weather was probably the biggest contributor to the record numbers…

He says Custer State Park and Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area were both very popular last year.  With the upcoming season in mind, he says there are several upgrades to keep the momentum going…

Van Meeteren says there are also several little projects at many of the state parks around the state to improve the existing facilities to continue encouraging visitors to visit.
