The South Dakota State FFA Convention wraps up in Brookings today with another year of record attendance. State Vice President Kierra Leddy says more than 2,000 members from across the state participated in judging and leadership contests, received chapter and individual awards and more than 200 members received their state degree.
National FFA Vice President Sydney Snider of Ohio spoke at the convention about the opportunities for young people interested in science and technology, especially with the growing shortage of trained professionals in these areas.
She says it’s an exciting time to be in agriculture as FFA members are meeting the challenge of feeding a growing population.
The convention will culminate with the results of the Career Development Events and the election of the new state FFA officers.
