Recent SCOTUS Session Seen as More “Left Leaning”

The U.S. Supreme Court is now on summer break, following some key rulings last week. Some experts are calling the finished session, left-leaning. Phil Kronebusch is a political science professor at the College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University and says that’s due in large part to Justice Anthony Kennedy.

Kronebusch says the other key factor during this session was the sudden death of Justice Antonin Scalia, which resulted in four cases ending in a 4-4 tie. His seat remains unfilled, and it’s looking more-and-more likely that it won’t be until after a new president has been selected in November.
