Iowa Governor Terry Branstad has vetoed about fifty five million dollars in state aid to education that was passed by this year’s legislature. He was not happy that it was a one-time allocation.
Senator Randy Feenstra of Hull says the veto came as a surprise.

Feenstra says he knows the cut will be hard on Iowa school districts.

There has been some talk of a special session to talk about school funding. Feenstra says there are the usual republican – democratic differences.

Feenstra says he would prefer to wait until the 2016 session to see if they can come up with some long range solutions.
