The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission will hold a hearing in March over the re-certification of the route of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline in western South Dakota. Construction of the crude oil line has not yet started so the four year window of the authorization has run out.
Commissioners approved a motion that would limit testimony and evidence to what was called “relevant material.”

PUC Chairman Gary Hanson told those at the meeting in Pierre today (Tuesday) that they want most of their material pre-filed before the official hearings.

Hanson says they will read all of the material that is presented in relation to the case.

Hanson said they are not restarting the whole pipeline process.

The motion passed on a two to one vote with Commissioner Kristie Fiegen voting no.
The hearing is set for next March 24th through the 26th.
