The South Dakota legislature’s rules review committee has given the go ahead to a rule that allows the sale and consumption of raw milk that goes into effect July 1. State Ag Secretary, Lucas Lentsch chaired the working group that came up with the compromise rule.
Lentsch was asked if he’s confident in the safety of allowing this rule to go forward.
The raw milk working group was formed following the conclusion of the 2014 legislative session and worked through the 2015 session, after which the compromise was reached.
