Ranchers Continue Recovery From Last Year’s Atlas Blizzard

This month marks the one year anniversary of the Atlas Blizzard that killed tens of thousands of livestock in West River South Dakota, Northwest Nebraska and Western North Dakota. South Dakota Stock Grower’s Executive Director Silvia Christen says thanks to the generosity and work of several individuals ranchers are recovering from that devastation.
Christen says while recovery is in its infant stages, full recovery will take some time in terms of rebuilding herds and genetics.
She says the current status of the cattle market is already helping many producers.
The Atlas Blizzard hit October 3 through the 5 of 2013 killing cattle , sheep and some bison.
