The region could use some rain. University of Nebraska – Lincoln Extension State Climatologist Al Dutcher says soil moisture content in parts of southwest and south central half of the state are 2 to 4 inches short.
Dutcher says if April and May rains don’t show up,parts of the state could be in trouble.
Snowfall in the Rockies was up and down all winter long and Dutcher says that could also be a problem.
Dutcher says the less snowpack the dryer conditions will be. Moderate drought conditions have increased the past few weeks in southwest and the south central half of the state.
