Despite being over budget, a rail reconstruction project in central South Dakota will continue.

Todd Yeaton of Kimball, Chairman of the state Railroad Board says they accepted a bid for the MRC line from Chamberlain to Presho at their meeting this week…

 

Yeaton says there are extra costs due to access issues west of the Missouri River…

 

The state will use a fourteen million dollar federal grant, along with money allocated by the legislature and local governments.

Yeaton says they also found the extra dollars needed to get the project moving…

 

Yeaton says there should be crews active on the line this summer.

A forty million dollar grain loading facility is planned on the rebuilt line at Kennebec.
