R-CALF wants an investigation into meatpacker JBS and how they acquired their U.S. meatpacking businesses. This comes on the heels of the company being involved in a bribery scandal in Brazil. R-CALF CEO Bill Bullard says the investigation needs to begin with the U.S. Justice Department.

He says if JBS is found guilty then they should be made to divest their assets.

Bullard says it needs to be a complete investigation into JBS’s activities including not only the Justice Department but also the President, Congress and the Ag Secretary.

Bullard thinks there’s a good chance that their investigation request will be granted because JBS has already hired a law firm to negotiate leniency agreements with the U.S. Justice Department. He adds the company is also facing a class action lawsuit from their U.S. investors charging them with deceit and fraud.
