R CALF Says COOL Should Prevail In Appeals Case

R CALF Says COOL Should Prevail In Appeals Case

The D.C. Circuit Court held an en banc hearing this week. That involved the appeal of meat groups seeking an injunction to stop the Country of Origin Labeling law. R CALF is one of the group’s backing COOL and CEO Bill Bullard says based on what he heard the judges say he feels the law will be upheld and the injunction denied.
Bullard says the whole argument government lawyers made in defending COOL centered around consumers right to know where animals are born, raised and slaughtered and the contention of meat groups that labeling hampers their free speech doesn’t hold water.
Bullard expects a ruling by the Appeals Court in two months but not any sooner than that.
